Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ appoints Sanjiv Vohra as co-head of corporate banking for Asia & Oceania
Vohra will join the bank on 4 September 2017.
According to a release, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc.’s (MUFG) banking entity, The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd. has appointed Mr. Sanjiv Vohra as Co-Head of Corporate Banking for Asia & Oceania. Vohra will be based in Singapore, reporting jointly to Mr. Takayoshi Futae, Singapore-based CEO for Asia & Oceania and Mr. Randall Chafetz, Tokyo-based Head of Global Corporate.
Mr. Vohra will be working closely with Mr. Yoshitake Manabe, Executive Officer and incumbent Head of Corporate Banking for Asia & Oceania. Both Mr. Vohra and Mr. Manabe will be jointly responsible for deepening market penetration amongst existing clients as well as identifying and developing new client businesses for the bank. They will also drive the bank’s corporate banking strategy in the Asia and Oceania region with the aim of enhancing its country and regional coverage.
Mr. Vohra has a 30-year career in banking where he held a number of senior leadership roles in Asia. Prior to joining MUFG, Mr. Vohra was head of Corporate Banking (Asia Pacific) at Deutsche Bank since 2013, where he was responsible for running the corporate banking business in 15 countries in the Asia Pacific region.
He started his career in 1986 with Citibank India and moved to ABN Amro Bank in 1999, working in India and Singapore. He rejoined Citibank in 2002 to head Corporate Banking for its India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh region and in 2005, relocated to Manila to be Citibank’s Country Head for Philippines and Guam. Alpha SEA publication in November 2011 listed Mr. Vohra amongst the Top 40 influential leaders in Southeast Asia.
