DBS appoints Teck Long Tan as chief risk officer

He has been with the bank for 25 years.

DBS has appointed Teck Long Tan as the bank’s Chief Risk Officer with effect from July 1 as Elbert Pattijn steps down after ten years of service.

Tan has been with DBS for 25 years, starting his journey as a trainee officer in 1993. He steadily moved up the corporate ladder to hold senior roles in Singapore and China including the bank’s real estate banking franchise in 2004 and Institutional Banking business in China from 2011 to 2016.

He also has background in risk management after his experience as a senior credit approver and heading DBS’ loan workout unit to help restructure weak credit cases.

“Teck Long’s appointment is testament to our ability to groom leaders from within. His longstanding career with DBS had a balance of business and risk roles, and I am confident that he will bring this experience to bear meaningfully in his new role,” said DBS CEO Piyush Gupta.
