CIMB Group names new group CEO

CIMB Group Holdings Berhad has appointed Abdul Rahman Ahmad as new group CEO/executive director for CIMB and CEO/executive director for CIMB Bank Berhad, effective 10 June.

He will replace Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, who vacated the post to assume the role of finance minister for the Malaysian government.

Rahman is currently the non-executive chairman of Sime Darby and Velesto Energy Berhad. He also helped established Ekuiti Nasional Berhad, a government-linked private equity firm, serving as its CEO until 2016 when he was appointed as president and group CEO of asset management firm Permodalan Nasional Berhad.
