Bank of East Asia opens Manchester Branch in the UK

Cocktail reception was held last Friday.

According to a release, the Bank of East Asia celebrated the opening of its Manchester Branch in the United Kingdom last Friday, 25th October, 2013, by holding a cocktail reception at the new Branch.

Councillor Naeem ul Hassan, the Lord Mayor of Manchester, officiated as guest of honour and Dr. David K.P. Li, BEA’s Chairman & Chief Executive, joined the celebrations together with other senior executives of the Bank. 

Located near Manchester’s Chinatown, the Branch provides comprehensive retail and commercial banking services, including safe deposit box rental service, which meet the needs of the Chinese community.

“We at BEA have always made it our mission to follow our customers as they venture abroad for personal or business reasons, to ensure that they can enjoy the same familiar, personalised service they enjoy in Hong Kong,” said Dr. Li.

“We have the expertise to serve the needs of the Chinese community in Manchester, and we look forward to further supporting the growth of trade between the UK and the Greater China region.”

In addition to being a major urban in northwest England, Manchester is the fastest growing city in the country, according to the 2011 Census.

BEA established its first branch in the UK in London in 1990, followed by a second branch in Birmingham in 1997. Both branches cater to sizeable Chinese communities.

With the opening of the Manchester Branch, BEA further extends its geographic reach from the Midlands to the northwest of England.
