HSBC confirms COVID-19 case in China, London offices
These cases are unrelated, interim CEO Noel Quinn said.
HSBC has confirmed an employee in China has contracted COVID-19 and has sent home more than 100 London staff after a worker tested positive, reports Reuters.
The bank’s coronavirus cases in China and London are unrelated, interim CEO Noel Quinn said in a memo.
A spokesperson in Hong Kong said the China employee was previously in self-quarantine and had no interaction with other staff since January.
HSBC’s London office is located in Canary Wharf, a major financial district where other global banks are also located. On Wednesday, it sent home some 20 staff from its global banking and markets division after one person came in contact with someone infected.
